Location
There is always lots to see and do during your holiday in Mundesley & Fireman’s Cottage is well located to take advantage of all that Norfolk has to offer. The historic village of Mundesley was listed in the Doomsday Book under the name of Muleslai. Today, Mundesley is a small but busy & thriving coastal village (population 2,500) with much to offer including a 9 hole Golf Course, driving range, crazy golf, skateboard park, outdoor mini gym, cafes, pubs & village shops. There is also a very good childrens playground in Gold Park with a zip wire !! You can enjoy a relaxing break, breathing in the wonderful sea air. (Some of our guests have said they can’t stay awake past 9pm as the sea air is so refreshing and calming). Its so easy to fall in love with this beautiful seaside retreat, away from the hustle and bustle of life. Try it for a long weekend or week and you will want to return again. Villages along the Coast (& slightly inland) - There are many pretty villages along the coast and slightly inland that are well worth a visit including Burnham Market, Cley, Holt, Letheringsett, Salthouse, Stiffkey, Cromer, Fakenham, Sheringham, Wells & Blakeney. The Beach at Mundesley - The long stretches of sand are beautiful and at low tide shallow pools are left on the beach making it ideal for younger children. During the summer the main part of the beach is lifeguard patrolled. People of all ages enjoy the beach for different reasons: to swim, surf, walk, picnic or just relax in a deckchair listening to the sea. Its a lovely way to spend some of your holiday. Why not have lunch or a cup of tea in the beach cafe overlooking the beach. Historically the sea has provided Mundesley with a fishing industry and you can still see local fishermen putting out to sea today in their small boats. There are numerous original fishermen’s cottages sprinkled around the village. Shops - Mundesley has a variety of shops providing almost everything you could need including a Post Office, florist, chemist, butcher, greengrocer, ladies wear, hardware, gifts & groceries (Spar). Eating & drinking - A walk around Mundesley will reveal several tea rooms, fish/chips & chinese takeaway. Food is served at most of the pubs and hotels in the village. Some of our guests have recommended The Ship Pub for its food. The Kingfisher Cafe in Walcott (3 miles on the coast road) is a clean, friendly cafe with lovely sea views. There is a very good fish & chip shop next door to the Kingfisher Cafe (eat in/take away). Golf - Mundesley has an excellent 9 hole Golf Course & Driving Range which welcome visitors. Phone 01263 720095. Crazy Golf is available for all the family at Adventureland opposite the beach. Cycling - There are miles of quiet lanes for walking/cycling. Weavers Way is a disused railway track & ideal for cycling and walking. Part of it runs adjacent to Pigneys Wood between Knapton & North Walsham & is a beautiful natural park for walking & picnics. Bacton Woods is a large woodland and has trails for cycling, walking & picnics.
